Like many cities, San Diego is trying to find ways to cut costs in this economy. Therefore the police department is firing some of their “personnel” and auctioning their equipment. Those affected are the 7 horses that patrolled Balboa Park (Wam, Trigger, Major, Junior, Bret, Bandit and Austin) as well as one third of their canines. The horse unit was created in 1983 (ironically enough) to save money for the department.
