2009: The First Family
December 31, 2009
Hello Daily Limerick Readers! As we wrap up this final week of 2009, we thought this would be a good time to look back on the year and some of the stories that were highly buzzed about. And nothing was more buzzed about than our new president and the entire first family. Barack was memorialized in a Chia Pet and Topps Trading Cards, Michelle was critiqued for her fashion choices, and of course, the nation was in a tizzy wondering what kind of dog the family would get. We hope you have enjoyed this daily retrospective and we look forward to bringing you more News to Amuse in 2010!
Historic Change
January 20, 2009
Today, history will be made when the 44th President of the United States is inaugurated. Senator Barack Obama (D-Illinois) defeated Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) in the November election and will become the first U.S. African-American President. His election marks a drastic change from the previous administration. In fact, “Change” was a vial part of his campaign slogan.
Today we welcome a new commander-in-chief
We voted for change and a little relief
There he will stand
With Bible in hand
A better eight years . . . that is our belief
