The Fall Guy

September 27, 2009

Tonight Show host, Conan O’Brien, suffered a head injury on Friday, September 25, 2009 while filming a skit with Terri Hatcher.  The concept was to highlight Hatcher’s recent completion of a triathlon.  Near the finish line, O’Brien was running down a flight of stairs when he slipped and hit his head.  He was taken to the hospital via ambulance and that evening’s show was canceled.  He was released the following day and expects to be back on the air on Monday.  In his typical fashion, he made light of the situation remarking, “Last thing I remember I was enjoying the play with Mrs. Lincoln…”  O’Brien took over hosting duties from Jay Leno and has not been able to retain the ratings level he was given..  It is theorized that O’Brien’s “postmodern approach” is alienating older viewers.

On June 1st a new Tonight Show era did begin
To older viewers, O’Brien’s style can wear thin
Wanting a win on the ratings front
O’Brien was injured in a stunt
Low ratings aren’t the only thing he takes on the chin
