A Sweet Day for Kids
August 29, 2009
Earlier this month, the classic children’s game, Candy Land, celebrated its 60th anniversary. To mark this special occasion, Lombard Street in San Francisco, known as the crookedest street in the world, was converted into a giant Candy Land board (check out these photos). Kids from nearby UCSF Children’s Hospital and other organizations participated in the game, moving between the large, colored squares and through the Chocolate Swamp and Peppermint Forest. Characters from the game including Princess Lolly and King Kandy were on hand for the event.
It was a big party on the world’s crookedest street
A giant Candy Land board was a local treat
Kids would somersault, slide and stomp
Across squares and the Chocolate Swamp
A perfect celebration for a game that’s sweet
