Island Def Jam Record Group is attempting to create a new income stream. Soon, many of the CDs that feature their artists will have marketing tie-ins. Mariah Carey will be the first when her new CD, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, drops on September 15, 2009. Inside, fans will be treated to a 34-page booklet coproduced by Elle Magazine featuring articles on Mariah and lifestyle ads from Elizabeth Arden, Angel Champagne, Le Metier Beaute, and the Bahamas Board of Tourism. But, you may ask, what about consumers who buy their music online? A digital version of the booklet will be included. Plans are already in the works for other artists such as Rihanna, Bon Jovi, and Kanye West.
Inappropriate marketing can bring out peoples rages
After all they are spending their hard-earned wages
Mariah’s using her clout
Testing new marketing out
And including an Elle magazine of thirty four pages
