Octomom – The Limerick
July 24, 2009
Los Angeles is home to “Octomom – The Musical” which began its run on July 18, 2009 and ends on August 15, 2009. With two performances each Saturday, the show attempts to point out the excesses in our society by featuring parodies of Nadya Suleman (Octomom), Bernie Madoff, and others. In January 2009 Suleman gave birth to octuplets, joining her other six children. In this low-budget production, Chris Voltaire, author of the book and lyrics, and the musical’s producer and director, also performs 2 characters. He has stated that his goal is to “give birth” to 14 different theatre companies all touring at the same time with each named after one of her children!
A new musical pokes fun at icons of excess
With Octomom, Madoff and others who transgress
This motley potpourri
Is quite the Jubilee
‘Cause we need to laugh at why the country’s in distress
