Stolen Icon
July 13, 2009
Cultural icons can mean different things to different generations – just ask Hal Lansky of Memphis, TN. In his back yard, he had the iconic statue that for over 70 years stood as the unmistakable symbol of Bob’s Big Boy Restaurant. Recently the statue was stolen and later found by two college students. However, their recognition of it extended less than 15 years because they knew it as the spaceship Dr. Evil uses for his getaway in one of the Austin Powers movies.
A plastic Bob’s Big Boy statue was missing for hours
It’s holding the famous burger he often devours
Two men helped with its retrieval
Thinking the owner was Dr. Evil
Because they knew it as the spaceship from Austin Powers
