Frosty the Codeman

June 22, 2009

David and Jane Szabo moved into their Anchorage, Alaska home and soon began collecting junk on their front lawn.  According to Jack Frost, the city’s Chief of Code Enforcement, actions requesting the couple remove their junk date back to 2002.  The Szabos have unsuccessfully appealed and have racked up fines of $250 per day for a total of $226,000.  If the junk has not been removed and the fine paid by Tuesday, the city will remove the items, charge for the cost of clean-up (estimated at $45,000) and place a lien against the Szabo’s home.  The Associated Press reports there are at least 10 rusted cars on the lot, piles of plywood, gym lockers, cement mixing equipment, ladders, and several other items.

An Anchorage couple is facing a huge cost
Fined for collecting junk other people have tossed
Everything rusted and antique
Must be removed sometime this week
Or they’ll have to face the mighty wrath of Jack Frost
