Headlines were made when Ponzi-scheme-financier Bernard Madoff’s bail was revoked and he was sent to jail. The following day, Madoff’s mug shot appeared in the newspaper that accompanied his prison number: 61727-054. Ralph Amendolaro, a Queens construction worker, noticed the prison number and played the last three numbers in the New York State Lottery Numbers game, and won $1,500.
