OMG—A Tech-Free Lent?
March 6, 2009
As part of their faith, some Christians abstain from an item or habit of their choice during the 5 weeks of the Lenten Season (the period of time between Ash Wednesday and Easter). This year Italian bishops are suggesting followers take a “high-tech fast” for Lent. Recommendations include enjoying the silence rather than listening to an iPod, refraining from using the internet and not sending text messages. Various dioceses in Italy are promoting this practice on their websites.
