Profound and Perplexing Politicians from Illinois

February 17, 2009

By coincidence, the spotlight has been on Illinois politicians.  Last week we celebrated the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.  Over the past several days we have learned that Roland Burris, the Junior Senator from Illinois, was untruthful in his testimony about his contacts with Rod Blagojevich, the recently impeached governor of Illinois.  Added to this mix of personalities is President Obama, former Senator from Illinois, who has made significant promises of change and recovery to the American people, but also alienated several members of the Republican party with the quick passage of the economic stimulus bill.

Blagojevich and Lincoln both hail from Illinois
One became great, the other does much to annoy
Abe set men free
Rod wanted a fee
Only time will tell which path Obama will enjoy
