Is It Pleasant Being a Pheasant?
January 23, 2009
On January 19, 2009, Pheasants Forever, an organization dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife, announced the largest gift in the organization’s 26-year history. Wallace N. Weber, donated 1,700 acres of his land to implement conservation practices beneficial to wildlife. The next day, Pheasants Forever released a press release entitled “Obama’s First Meal as President is a Pheasant Lunch” with the following quote from the organization’s Vice President, “I’m not a guy that believes in signs, but I am pleased to learn our new President has a taste for pheasant; our favorite bird.”
‘Twas quite a week for our friend the pheasant
In Kansas they were given quite a present
1,700 acres of protected land
These birds are in great demand
They were served at the luncheon for our president
