Baseball Card Bonanza
January 10, 2009
Bernice Gallego was cleaning out her antiques store when she discovered a baseball card from the Cincinnati Red Stockings. Not knowing its value, she placed it on E-bay for $10. She became suspect when she was asked to quickly close the bidding. After a bit of research, she learned the the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings formed the foundation of the Major League Baseball we enjoy today.
A found baseball card is one hundred thirty nine years old
For $10 on E-bay a Sacramento woman nearly sold
It’s a piece of baseball history
And its origin remains a mystery
But she’s now learned it’s worth its weight in gold
