Senate Showdown, Part II
January 6, 2009
Embattled Senate nominee Roland Burris was turned away from Capitol Hill on Friday. Selected by scandal-plagued Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, Democratic senators said they would not allow Burris to take the Senate seat. Burris was not allowed to assume the Senatorship because his election certificate lacked the Illinois Secretary of State’s signature. Burris held a short news conference after leaving the Capitol and said he will continue to pursue completion of his appointment as the junior Senator from Illinois.
Burris arrived at the Senate ready to serve
Showing his ususal aplomb and verve
A signature was omitted
Entry wasn’t permitted
More to come, this is just the hors d’eouvres
