December 30, 2008
Rod Blagojevich, Governor of Illinois, has been accused of attempting to sell the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama. Today Blagojevich announced that it is his duty as governor to appoint Obama’s replacement, and he named Roland Burris. Democratic senators have stated they will not allow Burris to be seated in the Senate. Pat Quinn, Lieutenant Governor of Illinois, stated on Face the Nation, his belief that Blagojevich will be impeached. The governor denies any wrongdoing.
Blagojevich said it was his gubernatorial right
To fill the Senate seat despite his plight
Burris has impeccable credentials
And all the political essentials
Though for Rod, impeachment is in sight
