Blago Asserts His Right

Rod Blagojevich, Governor of Illinois, has been accused of attempting to sell the Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama. Today Blagojevich announced that it is his duty as governor to appoint Obama’s replacement, and he named Roland Burris. Democratic senators have stated they will not allow Burris to be seated in the Senate. Pat Quinn, Lieutenant Governor of Illinois, stated on Face the Nation, his belief that Blagojevich will be impeached. The governor denies any wrongdoing. click here for limerick

On December 11, 2008, FBI Agents arrested Wall Street Financier Bernard Madoff, for creating a Ponzi scheme that may have defrauded investors of more than $50 billion. Victims include several big-name investors, European banks, and charitable organizations. click here for limerick

Ode to a Christmas tree

As we were driving about these past couple of days, we noticed a number of Christmas trees sitting out on the curb with the trash, or strapped to cars and taken to a tree recycling center. We wrote this limerick as a final tribute to the trees that brought so much beauty and joy this holiday season . . . and then were promptly discarded as soon as Christmas Day was over. click here for limerick
